A crude oil characterization is rarely used in isolation. The same crude assay may support multiple engineering activities performed by planning, scheduling, process engineering, technical services, and operations teams.

CUTS creates a consistent and queryable crude assay database, allowing every department to work from the same representation of the crude. This reduces the need to manually reconcile laboratory reports or reinterpret assay data separately for each engineering application.

Because the characterization covers the entire boiling range, crude properties can be prepared for virtually any required fraction and supplied in the form needed by downstream engineering tools.
